Considered to be one of the ten most scenic areas in North America, it is the birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder (Pepin), has the first City in Minnesota (Wabasha), is where the sport of waterskiing was invented (Lake City), is one of the World’s best areas for sailboats, has the only working lighthouse on the river (Lake City), and features a world famous lake monster named Pepie.
